Grease Interceptor Tanks from Xerxes by Shawcor
Foods-service establishments, such as C-stores and fast-food outlets, are increasingly required to install grease interceptors to collect corrosive fats, oils and grease (FOG) before the waste enters wastewater systems.
Many businesses are installing grease interceptors for the first time due to increased environmental regulations. Others are replacing failing interceptors or non-compliant systems to prevent fines, repair costs and ongoing maintenance.
Xerxes interceptors are designed to meet or exceed municipal FOG discharge regulations.
APPLICATIONS
Restaurants
Convenience stores
Big box stores
Retail malls
Food-processing plants
Sports stadiums
Schools and universities
Correctional institutions
HOW IT WORKS
Restaurant wastewater enters the grease interceptor. Food solids settle to the bottom of the tank. FOG rises and floats to the top of the tank. The water is filtered out to the sewer system while the FOG and food solids remain in the tank, increasing daily.
CORROSION RESISTANCE
Our interceptors are made from fiberglass that can withstand the corrosive environment inside a grease interceptor. Bacteria that generates hydrogen sulfide and sulfuric acid that can destroy other porous materials in just a few short years. You don’t have to worry about our tank cracking or collapsing due to corrosion.
FIBERGLASS MEANS LOWER MAINTENANCE AND BETTER CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE
Bacteria growth in porous concrete walls generates hydrogen sulfide and sulfuric acid, which cause a bad odor. In our smooth-walled fiberglass grease interceptors, you have less odor, improving customer experience.
The smooth fiberglass walls and rounded shape of our tanks mean no pressure washing or scraping. It’s like starting with a new tank after each pumping.
Cleaning our grease interceptor more quickly and easily means the unsightly pumper truck is onsite for less time.
30-YEAR WARRANTY
We have provided customers with durable and sustainable products that protect the environment for decades. Our proven track record along with our financial strength assures customers that we will be around to support our industry-leading products and warranties.
LOWER COST OF OWNERSHIP
Xerxes grease interceptors deliver exceptional cost savings during the life of the installation.
There are no linings that require inspection and maintenance.
Steel and concrete tanks weigh considerably more than fiberglass tanks of the same size. This adds to installation and shipping costs.
STRONGER MATERIAL
Our integral-rib design and fiberglass construction result in significant structural strength in all of our tanks.
Buried flat-top, precast concrete tanks are usually not rated for traffic load conditions. A design upgrade may be necessary, which increases costs. Our tanks are rated for H-20 and H-S20 traffic loads. No additional rebar-reinforced pad is required, another installation cost savings.
LEAK DETECTION MONITORING
Our double- and triple-wall models come with a leak-detection monitoring system. The electric monitor measures the accumulation of FOG as well as the level of sludge on the bottom of the tank. The system control panel includes an audible alarm, an LCD display of the tank conditions and data ports to relay information to building management systems. This allows facility managers to monitor tank functionality without having to open or enter the tank.
